A MASSIVE DEHUA BLANC-DE-CHINE FIGURE OF GUANYIN

The well-modeled bodhisattva shown standing on a base of cloud-capped, frothing waves, a scroll held in one of her graceful and separately made hands, wearing long robes gathered around her in graceful folds and bedecked with pendent beaded chains falling to just above the hem, the oval face modeled with contemplative expression framed by hair looped over the ears and drawn up into a double topknot partially hidden behind a reticulated lotus diadem centered by a figure of Amitabha, the back incised with a kiln mark, Fujian de yi and a potter's mark, Xu Caiyuan zhi, covered overall with a glaze of milk-white tone, filled-in firing cracks, restoration--32 3/4in. (83.2cm.) high
