Lot Essay

The four-character mark may be translated as 'Eternal Prosperity and Enduring Spring'. The amount of space between the dayazhai mark and the surrounding decoration is rare and similar to that on the bowl in the Percival David Foundation, included in the exhibition, Elegant Form and Harmonious Decoration, illustrated by Rosemary E. Scott in the Catalogue, no. 200 and again in Ch'ing Porcelains, Rosemary E. Scott, Arts of Asia, Jan.-Feb. 1989, p. 111, figs. 102 and 103.
