A SYRIAN HEMATITE CYLINDER SEAL
CIRCA 1800-1720 B.C.

Engraved with a bearded figure wearing a round cap and fringed kilt, holding a mace standard, facing a bearded figure to the right wearing a square hat and flounced robe, raising one hand in salute, a bare-headed figure with a long flowing beard and wearing a fringed mantle to the left holding an arm-and-hand emblem, and a goddess to the right wearing a square headdress and a flounced robe, holding a vessel(?) in her right hand, standing on a plinth, a ring of stars around her head, with a small priest holding a pail and sprinkler, and two verticle spears, points down, in the field, star disc and crescent in the sky, line border, 23 x 13 mm
