THREE OLD BABYLONIAN CYLINDER SEALS
CIRCA 1850-1700 B.C.

One of hematite engraved with a suppliant goddess facing a figure with a mace, a nude female figure and a fly in between, a star disc and crescent above, with, engraved in reverse by a different hand, a worshiper facing a deity, a bow-legged dwarf in between, a crescent in the sky, stalk of grain as the terminal, 23 x 11 mm, one of hematite engraved with a suppliant goddess standing before a figure with a mace, a star disc and crescent in the sky, with a three column inscription which reads: "Rubatum, slave-girl of Shamash and of Aya," 25 x 13 mm, and one of hematite engraved with a deity with a hand on a stalk of grain standing before a figure with a mace, with a three column inscription which reads: "Ishkur, son of heaven, water-controller of heaven and earth," 19 x 10 mm (3)
