ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPT ON VELLUM, 187 leaves, gatherings normally of eight leaves, except those with the inserted full-page miniatures and those in the calendar, 32mo (111 x 80mm.), written in black ink in a gothic rotunda, single columns of 15 lines, justification (64 x 41mm.), illustrated with 13 FULL-PAGE MINIATURES AND FIVE HISTORIATED INITIALS, all by the same hand, close to miniatures in W.195 at the Walters Art Gallery and Ms. 184 at the University of Chicago, all of which may be ascribed to the workshop of Willem Vrelant or to a follower, miniatures with full illuminated borders, facing pages with full illuminated borders and with either historiated or illuminated initials, numerous smaller illuminated and penwork initials, rubricated throughout. A few borders slightly trimmed and with some tiny paint losses, but generally in fresh condition. Added in the sixteenth or seventeenth century (in Spain?) are two leaves at the beginning with a title-page, protraits of Christ and the Virgin, and an indulgence with full borders and written in gold; at the end are added prayers on original leaves and a later bifolium ending with a decoration of a vase with flowers.
