A group of 5 undated letters and cards to Clemens from various New York hostesses inviting him to dinners and social affairs, all forwarded by Clemens to his wife Livy, two of the letters with initialed autograph endorsements by him: "I send these because you need something to read dearheart, SLC," and "Livy, dear, I'll tell you a howling yarn about this if I don't forget, SLC"; with an envelope apparently addressed by Clemens to Livy in Paris.
