ADAMS, JOHN, President. Engraved document signed ("John Adams") as President, countersigned by Timothy Pickering, Secretary of State, Philadelphia, 8 February 1800. One page, folio, ON FINE PARCHMENT, large papered Great Seal of the United States, matted with an engraved portrait, glazed in a giltwood frame, attractively engraved in italic, headed "John Adams, President of the United States of America," accomplished in manuscript. The President grants to James Gunn, who served as a Captain for seven years in the army, 1,870 acres of frontier land "scituate between the Little Miami and Sciota Rivers, north- west of the River Ohio," the boundaries of which are set out by survey in considerable detail.
