One page?, an oblong (unexamined out of frame), matted with an engraved portrait, glazed in a gilt-wood frame, small repaired hole. A printed form attributing prize-money to the bearer, spaces for manuscript accomplishment left blank: "I do hereby certify, That the Bearer...is entitled to whatever share or portion of prize-money may accrue to him...".
On 17 April 1776, as captain of the brig Lexington, Barry made the first capture of a British ship by a regularly commissioned American cruiser during an actual battle. During the remainder of the war he distinguished himself as one of the most effective and respected commanders of the American fleet, capturing a large number of British vessels with a minimum of bloddshed.
