JOHNSON, LYNDON BAINES, President. Document signed ("Lyndon B. Johnson"), as President, typed copy of the Bill of Rights, The White House, Washington, D. C., 2 July 1964. Two pages, folio, staple holes, small tears to lower margin, slightly wrinkled and soiled. A FINE, LARGE SIGNATURE, the place and date also inscribed by Johnson; probably written at the request of a civil rights supporter, seven and a half months after Kennedy's assassination, and a month before the Democratic convention, where Johnson was nominated by acclamation. His opponent Barry Goldwater was one of the few Congressmen to vote against the Civil Rights Act, passed earlier that year.
