LEE THE PATRICIAN FARMER

Lee thanks his cousin for a pair of oxen: "I sent in Tuesday agreably to your letter of the 11th for the oxen, which arrived in the freight train about 5 1/2 P.M. The train was delayed in consequence of the snow, but they got out here in good time & comfortable condition. The wretches however charged me $6.00 instead of $4.80. No great difference. They appear to be a good strong pair of oxen. I will give them an opportunity of doing something as soon as the snow disappears. I am much obliged to you for them. I enclose a check of this date...for $100 to your order in payment...I am much obliged to you for your kind offer of assistance. I fear I shall be very troublesome to you...Present us kindly to all at Kinlock" [or Kinloch, Turner's home].
