A MEISSEN HAUSMALEREI TWO-HANDLED OVAL TUREEN, COVER AND QUATREFOIL STAND painted in the workshop of Mayer of Pressnitz with cossack equestrian figures in river landscapes before buildings, one horse on the tureen with the initial P to a buttock, the tureen and cover with ozier moulding and the handles formed as reeds issuing from female-mask heads, the border of the stand with four luxuriant bouquets and smaller bouquets below the gilt ozier moulded finial (one handle a porcelain replacment and the stand broken across and restored, chips to inside rim of tureen and slight rubbing to stand and gilding), blue crossed swords mark to tureen and stand and Pressnummer 28 to tureen and 27 to stand, circa 1750
