The tsuba comprising: a four-lobed nigurome plate, the rim carved as a dragon and waves, the web in nanako, (circa 1700), signed Goto Kojo and kao--7.5cm. h., 7cm. w., 3.5mm. th.; a four-lobed nigurome plate carved in high relief with a castle, a water wheel and a bridge with gilt surface, (circa 1750)--6.7cm. h., 5.9cm. w., 4mm. th.; an oval nanako plate carved with gilded sprays of flowers and leaves, (circa 1750)--6.3cm. h., 5.9cm. w., 4mm. th.; a round, sammai awase plate of shakudo with a repousse design of gold-accented yamabushi, (circa 1700)--7cm. h., 4.5mm. th.; a mokko brass plate decorated with a wave pattern, (Higo style, circa 1800)--6cm. h., 5mm. th.; a brass, tanto size plate carved as a puppy with a cord, and an abalone shell, (circa 1800)--5.7cm. h., 4.5mm. th.; a mokko, cast-brass plate, (circa 1700) (7)

The first three examples in this lot are of the Nagoya-mono school type and may be compared to lots 31, 32, and 33, respectively, in the Collection of Walter A. Compton, Part III, sold in these rooms on December 17, 1992.
