SEVEN KINKO TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1700-1865)
The brass tsuba comprising: an oval plate with a sage and a horse carved in low relief, inlaid in shakudo, gold, and silver, the reverse decorated with a pine tree, (depatinated), signed Yo Teryyuki, (Yo Teryyuki was a student of Nara Shigeyuki [circa 1850], and later signed his work, Hamano. He worked in Edo circa 1865)--7.1cm. h., 5.5mm. th.; a rounded, rectangular plate with a relief inlay of a no actor, (plate and figure damaged), signed Ikkosha Masaharu and kao, (Ikkosha was of the Kajita family and lived in Edo. He died in 1887)--6.8cm. h., 4.5mm. th.; an oval plate with relief inlay of two Chinese sages and two karako in gold, silver and copper, (plate rubbed), (circa 1775)--6.8cm. h., 4.5mm. th.; an oval plate with relief inlay of herons and reeds, (depatinated), (circa 1800)--6.9cm. h., 5mm. th.; an oval, stone ground plate inlaid with flowers in shakudo and silver, (circa 1800)--6.3cm. h., 5mm. th.; a rounded-square, stone surface plate with high relief inlay of a bird in a tree of silver, gold shakudo and copper, (circa 1775)--6.7cm. h., 5mm. th.; an oval tanto size plate carved as a dragon in the round, (circa 1800)--6cm. h., 5mm. th.
