THREE TETSUGENDO SCHOOL TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1800), SIGNED TETSUGENDO SHORAKU AND TWO GOLD SEALS
The tsuba comprising: a thick iron plate pierced and inlaid in relief of copper, shakudo and gold with a woodcutter gazing at a silver moon, the reverse with a shakudo tree and gold details (the surface with light rust)--7.1cm. h., 6.7cm. w., 5.5mm. th.; an iron plate pierced, carved, and inlaid in a very high relief design of Benkei and Yoshitsune on a bridge in gold, silver and copper--7.6cm. h., 7.4cm. w., 6mm. th.; and a tanto-sized iron plate inlaid and carved with the twelve animals of the zodiac in shakudo, gold and silver (slight rust and rubbing)--6.1cm. h, 5.8cm. w., 4.5mm. th.
