EIGHT TSUBA OF VARIOUS TYPES
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1650-1800)

The iron tsuba comprising a gate-shaped plate with five bands and two side poles, (circa 1850)--7.5cm. h., 7cm. w., 6.5mm. th.; a gate-shaped plate with six bands and two side poles, (circa 1750)--6.2cm. h., 5.8cm. w., 4.5mm. th.; a round plate with four fans, the hitsu-ana of long, oval shape (as Umetada school), the rim with iron bones, (circa 1700)--8cm. h., 4mm. th.; a plate formed as two gourds around the seppa dai, with smaller, pierced gourds, (considerable rust), (circa 1650)--7.8cm. h., 7.6cm. w., 5mm. th.; a plate formed as two pair of open fans, the sides with matsukawabishi crests in an oval ring, the rim with many fine iron bones, (Shoami style, circa 1650)--7.3cm. h., 4.5mm. th.; a round plate outlined with twelve groups of three-leaf kiri plants in sukashi, (an outer rim probably cut away), (Kyo-sukashi, circa 1700)--6.6cm. h., 4.5mm. th.; a thick plate in sukashi of four leaves at top and five at bottom, (some rust and pitting to plate), (circa 1800)--7.1cm. h., 6.9cm. w., 7mm. th.; a plate carved with three overlapping open fans with surface carving, the rim with a shakudo cover, (Shoami, circa 1800)--7.5cm. h., 7.3cm. w., 5.5mm. th.
