A KAGA BRASS INLAY TSUBA
MUROMACHI PERIOD (CIRCA 1500)

The round iron plate is pierced with eight petal-shaped openings. The surface is inlaid with flush brass in a pattern of leaves and scrolls with chrysanthemum blooms on both sides and going over the edge. One hitsu-ana has been enlarged at a later date. Some of the wire inlay is missing on both sides--height 7.4cm., width 7.2cm., thickness 3.5mm.
