The church-style low, rectangular cabinet decorated in gold and brown hiramaki-e and inlaid mother-of-pearl on a roiro ground with characteristic foliate and scroll decoration, the recessed top lacquered with birds and trailing vines within a border of confronted chevrons of mother of pearl, the sides lacquered in gold and in inlaid mother of pearl with bell flowers within a geometric and a squiggle-scroll border, the hinged fall-front ornamented with birds and dense foliage within chevron and scroll borders, the inside of the cover lacquered with flowering gourds with large mother of pearl blossoms, fitted with two large and two small drawers with similar decoration, metal mounts- 16 1/2 x 14 7/8 x 9 1/2 in.
