A HIRADO WARE BLUE AND WHITE COVERED VASE
EDO PEROID (19TH CENTURY)

Of attenuated bottle form with ovoid body and tall, cylindrical neck surmounted by a domed cover, well painted in underglaze blue on the body with four tigers in different poses amongst sparse clusters of bamboo and painted about the neck with a three-claw dragon and clouds, the top of the neck and bottom of the cover encircled by a floral necklace- 15 1/2 in. (39.3 cm.) high, two small chips underside of rim of cover
