A FEDERAL INLAID MAHOGANY SHELF CLOCK

The hood with molded arched pediment surmounted with three shield-
inlaid plinths and brass flame finials centering carved giltwood fretwork above an arched line-inlaid door opening to a white-painted dial with Roman and Arabic chapter rings flanked by floral spandrels and inscribed "David Wood," the case with crossbanded and line-inlaid hinged door with applied ogee molding, on ogee bracket feet with brass carrying handles (appears to retain original carrying handles, stamped "69"; lacks one finial)--35in. high, 12 3/4in. wide, 6 1/8in. deep

Lot Essay

This shelf clock is nearly identical to another shelf clock with pewter fretwork by David Wood which sold in these Rooms on January 25, 1986, lot 343.
