These amusingly obscene figurines are wearing period costume, realistically depicted, and are intriguing from a socio-psychological point of view. They relate to the tradition in Dieppe of carved ivory spoon and knife handles, tobacco rasps, etc. with explicitly naughty subjects for private enjoyment and "after-dinner" banter.
