A GILT-BRONZE AND COPPER PROCESSIONAL CROSS
TUSCAN, EARLY 14TH CENTURY
The shaped cross, engraved over-all, the quatrefoil terminals with the Virgin, St. John, a pelican in piety and Adam's skull, around the applied figure of Christ crucified with finely articulated rib cage and perizonium, the cross decorated with six ball finials, the reverse engraved with Christ surrounded by the Four Evangelists and Joseph ----- 20½in.(52cm.) high, (crown of thorns missing, ball finials missing and with losses to extant finials, gilding worn throughout)
