On shaped oblong marble base, the inverted Y-frame supported by gryphons and enhanced with a pair of snakes, the chased bezel enclosing annular white enamel roman chapter ring incorporating day and date rings, subsidiary dial above for age and aspect of moon, the mask painted with landscape, the movement with pinwheel escapement planted on the back plate, finely made gridiron pendulum suspended from steel knife edge, beat adjustment and thermometer scale (lacking indicator hand), striking the hour and half hour by means of countwheel on bell mounted between the plates, the calendar work and moon phase advanced by striking train, with glazed giltwood vitrine and mahogony base, c. 1815--29½ in.
