Caracalla (AD 198-217), Orichalcum Sestertius, 26.4 gms., mint of Rome, struck c.AD 214-217, M AVREL ANTONINVS PIVS AVG GERM, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. PROVIDENTIAE DEORVM, Providentia standing left holding wand above globe, and sceptre, S-C in fields (RIC 572a; BMC 271), the reverse slightly weak, otherwise extremely fine with a superb mature portrait of Caracalla and very rare in this condition
