Licinius II, Caesar (AD 317-324), Gold Aureus, 5.3 gms., mint of Nicomedia, struck c.AD 320 or later, DN VAL LICIN LICINIVS NOB C, bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust facing, rev. IOVI CONSERVATORI CAES around Jupiter seated facing on platform, holding Victory and sceptre, at his feet an eagle holding a wreath in its beak, platform inscribed SIC V SIC X, SMNE in exergue (RIC 42), the flan slightly wavy at the left of the obverse and other occasional surface marks, otherwise nearly extremely fine and rare, with a charming facing portrait
