Lot Essay

Platt, in addition to being a painter, was an etcher and an architect. An Etcher's Studio is one of several versions of this subject he painted between 1885 and 1888, which can be found in the collections of the Montclair Art Museum, New Jersey, the St. Botolph Club, Boston and the Hartford Steam Boiler Insurance and Inspection Company, Hartford.
