Lot Essay

He exhibited at the Salon from 1867-1883 (attached is a list of his documented Salon exhibits) and won a medal in 1879.

His oeuvre was composed primarily of animalier subjects, which he modelled in either wax or plaster and subsequently cast in bronze. The artist was very interested in Orientalist subject matter and many of his compositions depict scenes in North Africa.
