TWO BLUE AND WHITE RECTANGULAR BOTTLES
CHENGHUA AND QIANLONG MARK, BOTH 19TH CENTURY

One painted with a boy leading goats by a stream on one wide and one narrow side, and on the other two faces with figures in a river landscape; the other bottle similarly utilizing one wide and one narrow side to depict birds amidst branches, deer in a landscape on the other sides, all faces of each bottle with calligraphy, one with neck bruise and some glaze pulling, the other with minute glaze frit to lower edge, stoppers (2)

Lot Essay

Calligraphy on the first bottle includes Xia Mu zuo (possibly painter's name) and cyclical date Wuxu year, 1838 or 1898. Calligraphy on the second bottle includes Yang Yue zuo and Jihai year, 1839 or 1899
