Lot Essay

Harbin, in Northern China, was developed in the 1890's when the Russians and Chinese built the Chinese Eastern Railway. This joint effort eventually became part of the Trans-Siberian Railway system. It became well known as an important expatriate community for White Russians fleeing the Revolution.
