A SILVER SUGAR URN AND COVER
ATTRIBUTED TO PAUL REVERE II, BOSTON, CIRCA 1795

Of fluted urn form on spreading circular foot raised on a square base, bright-cut engraved with foliate borders and drapery swags with tassels, the domed cover with similar foliate border and surmounted by a twisting bud finial, the cover and side engraved with a monogram within an oval cartouche, apparently unmarked--9½in. high

Lot Essay

A virtually identical sugar urn, also unmarked, is in the collection at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and was attributed to Paul Revere by Kathryn Buhler in American Silver, 1972, v. II, fig. 384, p. 434.

A fluted sugar urn engraved with swags and marked by Revere was sold in these Rooms, June 2, 1990, lot 85.
