The F. Barbedienne foundry in Paris listed production for A. Collas reductions of the Clodion vase in 1862. The offered lot corresponds with a third example which was introduced in 1876, which closely followed the original. A Barbedienne reduction of the original vase is now in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
