This Steinway Grand Piano, dating from 1880 was owned by Mme. Margaret Stedman Chaloff, pianist and teacher, who taught at North East Conservatory of Music, Brandeis University, Boston Univesity and Berklee School of Music. The piano itself also has quite a history. As a pianist and accomplished teacher, Mme. Charloff attracted the attention of many great artists including Leonard Bernstein, George Shearing, Arthur Fiedler, Dr. Nicholas Zervas, Toshiko, Serge Chaloff, Herbie Hancock, Steve Kuhn, Allan Hovaness, Miklos Schwalb, Dick Twortzig, Dave McKenna, George Wein and Lee Berk. All of these musicians are reputed to have enjoyed playing this grande piano.
