Gelatin silver print. 1944. Titled, dated, inscribed: Sometimes the dead of a previous raid slide into the sea while above them on the flight deck their brothers of flight take off once again to strike the enemy. Slipping to the sea encased by a white weighted bag is a radioman of a T.B.7 killed during the first days raiding of Truk(?) Feb. 16... Light is dawn in pencil, West 76th Street and estate stamps on the verso. 13 3/8 x 9½in.
