Five parts in one volume, 2° (398 x 272mm). General title and title to New Testament printed in red and black within an historiated woodcut border (Thomas Cromwell's arms erased) [McKerrow & Ferguson 45], calendar partly printed in red, second to fourth titles in red and black within border of 16 blocks, woodcut illustrations and initials. (f.2 and 3 rehinged, other margins restored, a few tears neatly repaired, any loss supplied in manuscript facsimile, upper margin trimmed occasionally touching headline, occasionally stained.) 19th- century green morocco over thick pasteboard, covers with gilt fillets and scroll roll-tool borders and centrepiece, spine gilt in compartments, (rubbed, slight splits in hinges), gilt inner dentelles, parchment liners and doublures, edges gilt. Provenance: Cardiff Castle bookplate; autograph note signed from Francis Fry confirming the completeness of this copy.

The sixth edition of the Great Bible, the fifth with Cranmer's Prologue. A revision by Coverdale of Matthew's Bible made under Cromwell's patronage, ordered to be 'set up in sum convenient place wythin thee said churche that ye have cure of'. Herbert 62; STC 2075
