Printed in Roman type, titles with woodcut vignette (torn and repaired with a few letters supplied in manuscript facsimile), 5 double-page woodcut maps and plans (one with upper margin extended, another with tear very neatly repaired), 26 illustrations in the text. (First and last two gatherings restored, affecting a few lines on final leaf, upper margin affecting headline on a few pages, some leaves soiled.) 19th-century green morocco over thick pasteboard, covers with gilt fillets with ornamental cornerpieces, spine gilt in compartments, gilt inner dentelles, parchment liners and doublures, g.e. Provenance: some early gloss on a few leaves; Cardiff Castle bookplate; with an autograph note by Francis Fry commenting on this copy, tipped on front endpaper.
