Sylvie, souvenirs du Valois, Paris 1886, green morocco, covers and smooth spine gilt and gilt-stippled to a fanfare design of interlacing strapwork, leafy sprays and arabesques, turn-ins gilt, maroon morocco doublures with gilt border of interlacing strapwork triangles at corners containing pointillé arabesques and from which emerge leafy sprays, matching morocco liners with triple gilt fillet border and gilt-stippled fleurons at corners, small oval bookbinder's stamp gilt on lower liner, t.e.g., others uncut, stamp-signed on upper turn-in, slipcase, slight rubbing to joints and extremities of spine, LIMITED EDITION, no. 720 of 850 copies of the regular issue from the edition of 1000, frontispiece etching and 41 etched vignettes by E. Rudaux, Vicaire VI:60-61, inscribed on front free endpaper "presented to me by Mr. Zaehnsdorf, May 1897" -- E. G. STARR, binder. LONGFELLOW. The Song of Hiawatha, Boston 1864, blue-green crushed morocco, covers gilt with large shooting-star flowers and leafy branches at corners on a dense field of tiny stars surrounding central blank cartouche, spine in six similarly gilt compartments, turn-ins with triple gilt fillet border, massed stars at angles, g.e., stamp-signed on lower turn-in "18-E.G.S-99", spine and extremities rubbed, upper inner hinge cracked; together 2 vols., 8vo, backstrips faded to brown.
