Chancery folio, 273 x 205 mm. (10 3/4 x 8 1/16 in.), eighteenth-century French red morocco, covers gilt-panelled, smooth spine gilt in compartments, green morocco title-piece lettered up the spine, turn-ins gilt, g.e., silk ribbon marker, new matching red goatskin folding case, lacking final blank leaf, upper inner hinge clumsily restored, slight rubbing to joints and extremities, some light spotting.

Collation: [1-4 10 5 8]. 47 (of 48) leaves, lacking final blank, unfoliated. Types: 2:133 (headings), 3:99a (text). Double column, 42 lines, initial spaces. Rubricated: lombard initials, paragraph marks, capital strokes and underlining in red. Eighteenth-century coded purchase or bookseller's note on lower flyleaf.

Second edition, of three by Eggestein, of this compilation of exempla arranged alphabetically by vice or virtue. attributed to Nicolaus de Hanapis by Scholderer and GW. Rare: no copy of any edition has been sold at auction, according to ABPC, since a copy of the present edition was sold in 1966.
