Of cylindrical form on three foliate ball feet and headed by chased foliage and flowerheads, with tubular scroll handle ewith similar foliate decoration terminating with a cherub's mask, the hinged cover with lion passant thumbpiece, chased with flowerheads and set with a silver-gilt medal depicting the Nativity, the body engraved with initials H.D.M. over E.H.D. within a foliate cartouche and flanked by more initials, marked under base--7¼in. (18.5cm.) high
