Small 4° (184 x 125mm). Collation: A-H4, (lacking blank A1). Woodcut printer's device on title [McKerrow 112b]. Early 19th-century calf (spine a little worn). Provenance: Thomas Hill (1760-1840), his signature on title, he had probably acquired it with Thomas Park's poetical library; offered for sale by Longman at ¨10.10s in Bibliotheca Anglo-Poetica (1815); purchased by Richard Heber (his catalogue pt.IV p.185; his sale in 1834 sold at ¨3.1s); Cardiff Castle bookplate.

Second edition of a poem first published in 1601. The attribution to Markham in STC is tentative, but it is listed under his name in CBEL I.p.1126, and fully accepted and described by F.N.L. Poynter, Bibliography of Gervase Markham, (Oxf.1962) no. 5.2. STC 17570 (records only B.L. and the present copy); Grolier Langland to Wither 168, describing the first edition.
