Shaped circular, the gadrooned rims with anthemion and shells at intervals, the borders engraved with a crest and garter motto enclosing a Baronet's badge and, on the other side, with another crest, marked on reverses--10 7/8in.(27.5cm.) diameter

Lot Essay

The crest and motto are those of Scott as borne by Sir Joseph Scott, 1st Baronet, of Great Barr, Staffordshire, born in 1752. He was High Sheriff of Staffordshire in 1779, M.P. for Worcester from 1802 to 1806 and was created a baronet on April 30, 1806. He married in 1777 his cousin Margaret, daughter and heir of Edward Whitby of Shut End, Staffordshire. He died in 1828.
