Small 4° (178 x 132mm). Collation: s4 A-G4. Large title woodcut of St.Francis kneeling before Christ [Hodnett 456], and two full-page woodcuts, St.Bridget [Hodnett 457 fig.54] and Christ with the Emblems of the Passion [Hodnett 2061], also one half page cut of Salvator Mundi [Hodnett 2026 fig.186]. (Paper fault in D4 affecting two letters.) 18th-century calf (spine rubbed, split in upper joint). Provenance: Thomas Rawlinson (his sales 1756-57) with his collation mark; Bute bookplate.

Second edition. Whitford was chaplain to Bishop Richard Foxe, before retiring to Syon House, a Brigittine house at Isleworth. In the preface he calls himself 'a broder of Syon'.
