With certificate 8476960 from the Gemological Institute of America stating that the diamond is D color (colorless) and Internally Flawless
The words graceful and elegant are not always the first that come to mind when describing a diamond and although this stone carries the usual adjectives of magnificent, spectacular and glamorous the first two criteria equally apply. Stones of this size are usually cut to reach maximum weight whilst with this diamond the emphasis has been to achieve the right lines combined witha D-colour Internally Flawless certificate. It also combines life with an impression of a diamond looking considerably larger than its carat weight.
The rectangular cut is particularly well suited to large stones of fine colour and once more it should be noted that this is often a shape that suffers from considerable weight loss in the cutting.
Exceptional stones achieve special prices and as recently as October 19, 1993 Christie's realised $62,000 per carat for an emerald cut D flawless diamond of 20.54cts. A few years earlier, in 1988, Christie's sold for a world record $142,000 per carat a perfect diamond of 52.59cts, cut in the style of the stone being offered today.
