The first a female doll with oil cloth face and body, plain woven blue cotton bonnet and dress and knit blue shoes--8in. tall; the second a male doll with plain woven cotton face and body, navy stocking knit cap and plain woven cotton blue shirt with brown overalls--13in. tall; the third a female doll with plain woven cotton face and body, plum plain woven cotton bonnet, cape and skirt and plain woven cotton grey smock--9½in. tall (3)

According to Rachel and Kenneth Pelman in Amish Doll Quilts, Dolls and Other Playthings (Intercourse, PA., 1986), one of the most common features of Amish dolls is that they lack faces, a feature most likely due to Biblical proscription.
