Second edition of a rare devotional tract by a monk at Fontevrault. It is written as a conversation between the soul and reason, and gives instruction on meditating on the Passion, death, eternal life, etc., and cites St. Bernard, Gerson, St. Catherine of Siena, Ovid, and others. Neither edition known of this text is dated, but CIBN places this one about 1508-1515 on the state of the device, succeeding an edition of about 1499. The full-page woodcut on the verso of the title-page is new to this edition; that page is blank in the previous edition. Pell Ms 7162; CIBN p.173; Pr 8207; GW VII col. 377; BL (C.107.c.5)
