(25mm. tear to lower blank margin of leaf between pp.208 & 209, small tear at fold of one map.) Original purple morocco, the spine in five compartments with raised bands, titled in gilt in the second, black-and-white pictorial endpapers by Eric Kennington, t.e.g. the other edges uncut, by Best, cloth box.

A FINE COPY OF THE PRIVATELY PRINTED EDITION WITH A NUMBER OF RARE EPHEMERAL ITEMS SENT TO SUBSCRIBERS, INCLUDING THE VERY RARE PROOF LEAF FROM THE OXFORD EDITION, LIMITED TO ABOUT 170 'COMPLETE' SUBSCRIBERS' COPIES, OF LAWRENCE'S MASTERPIECE, INSCRIBED BY HIM on p.XIX "Complete copy 1.XII.26 TES" with an additional single manuscript correction. As usual, the present copy includes the "Prickly Pear" plate, which is not required by Lawrence's list of illustrations, but does not include the two Paul Nash illustrations called for on pp.92 and 208, or the Blair Hughes-Stanton wood-engraving that in some copies illustrates the dedicatory poem. Page XV is mis-paginated VIII. Clements p.49.
