Lot Essay

Yi Sang-Bom was born in Gongju and graduated from Seo Wha Art Institute in 1918. His work was exhibited at the "1st Choson" art exhibition in Seoul in 1922. He was a reporter for Dong-A Ilbo(a leading Korean newspaper) during the years 1927-37 and taught at Hong-Ik University in Seoul during the period 1950-61. Yi Sang-Bom won the March 1st Cultural Award in 1962 and received the Seoul City Cultural Prize in 1966. He is well known as a landscape painter.
