With rectangular galleried Spanish brocatelle marble top above three drawers with stiff leaf-cast borders, the slant front with raised central panel of Japanese lacquer within twisted ribbon-and-bead borders and mother-of-pearl and brass-inlaid surround of trailing foliage enclosing a scarlet and gilt lacquered interior with a leather-lined writing surface, the sides and back with panels of Japanese lacquer, on octagonal tapering legs with foliate-cast capitals and ending in leaf-cast sabots, decorated overall with panels of star-patterned lacquer, bearing the stamp A. WEISWEILER-42in. (107cm.) high, 25½in. (65cm.) wide, 19in. (48.5cm.) deep
