THE EWER EARLY 18TH CENTURY, PROBABLY ITALIAN, THE BASIN, LATE 17TH- EARLY 18TH CENTURY

The helmet-shaped ewer with leaf-clad flying scroll handle, applied with masks and molded mid-band, engraved circa 1780 with a coat-of-arms, cyphered initial and Earl's coronet; the shaped oblong basin with broad molded rim and panelled sides, the ewer struck possibly later, with CP over a mullet in a heart-shaped punch, the basin apparently unmarked--10 3/8in. (26.3cm.) high, 14½in. (37cm.) long
