On a round base, with the seat supported by a seated caryatid figure, elbows on knees, the hands at either side of the face, incised hair and scarification on the legs, arms, and torso, with copper bracelets on either arm and copper rings in the ears, with copper round nail heads on the forelegs, forearms, upper ams, and thighs, left side of base restored, 9½in. (24cm.) high

William Fagg dated this stool from 1870, up to about the time of World War I. He notes it is similar to a stool in the Collection of Katherine C. White (see Fagg, 1968, no. 239).
