Lot Essay

Jie Jin, who was a native of Jishui, Jiangxi, received the jinshi degree in 1388, along with honors and the title Shujishi. He studied ancient styles of calligraphy and learned the writing styles of Wei Su (1303-1372) and Zhou Boqi (1298-1369), becoming accomplished in a wide-range of scripts, including small standard, running and cursive calligraphy. His cursive script was described as beautiful and uninhibited.
