Joseph Frölich was the last paid jester at the Saxon court. He arrived from Bayreuth, was appointed in 1728 and died shortly before 1763. See O. Walcha, "Frölich und Schmiedel im Meissner Porzellan", Keramos, 32/66, pp. 35-40 for a full discussion of the subject and his representations in Meissen porcelain.
